Idaho Falls and related destinations

Beneath the shadow of the striking Idaho Falls Temple, the River Walk invites exploration along the Snake River's edge. The Museum of Idaho offers fascinating exhibits on regional history, while baseball fans can catch the Chukars playing at Melaleuca Field. Tautphaus Park Zoo delights with its intimate collection of animals, and the Colonial Theater hosts performances in a beautifully restored historic venue. The Art Museum of Eastern Idaho showcases local talent in rotating exhibitions. After sampling local restaurants downtown, consider day trips to Yellowstone or Grand Teton National Parks. The Idaho Falls Greenbelt Trail provides perfect sunset views of the cascading falls that gave this adventure town its name.

Idaho Falls was created by a man-made diversion dam used for hydroelectric power. Before the dam was created, this was just a bunch of small rapids. Now, the Snake River makes a drop of about 20 ft. or so over a width of 1200 ft. There is a beautiful walkway along the river here, so one can stroll along the whole length of the falls. In the background is the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple.
