Stunning

What a beautiful location- the drive down from the moor at sunset is amazing. Great staff, breakfast is a feast for your stomach and your eyes because the views from the dining room or outside decking are stunning

Great little break away

The room was lovely and bright and temperature was good too - lots to choose from for breakfast - my only disappointment was the cost of meals at the restaurant and the first night we weren’t given a kids menu so paid for a full adult meal for an 8 yr old - I’m not tight by any means but £300 for 2 breakfasts and 2 evening meals with only main course and one drink was a bit too much - however the area and staff were amazing - will stay again

6/10 Good

To me looked and sounded better than it was. Everything OK at best except the scenery which was fantastic. To be honest I wouldn't go there again.

We have stayed at White Horse Farm Inn before and have enjoyed our time there. It doesn't pretend to be anything other than a lovely village inn. It is a typical village pub of it's age and time. It has the most spectacular scenery as it's stands on a plateau up the hill on the road leading to Rosedale Chimneys. Absolutely beautiful! Our room was the very large family one so we had plenty of space. The staff were fantastic. Friendly Yorkshire folk, nothing was too much trouble. The food was well cooked and there was a lot of it. (Smaller portions can be asked for) which we had. Overall we were not disappointed and we would stay here again. A beautiful part of North Yorkshire. Thank you

Would recommend!

Really loved the views surrounding the hotel - was a nice stay. Just wish the deluxe room actually had a king size bed and that the bacon was more crispy for breakfast. Other than that - staff were really friendly and it was a lovely stay.

Food was excellent and so we're staff, room was good although my back didn't like the bed. My husband thought it was fine. Bathroom rather tiny. If we were staying for than one night, it would have been too small. Overall 9.5/10

Beautiful property with great people. Friendly environment & super helpful. Only stayed one night but would stay longer in the future. I don’t recommend booking though Expedia. Would go straight through the establishment.

Lovely country hotel in amazing location

Really enjoyed our one night stay. Very smiley and friendly staff. Stuart was very helpful as were all the other staff. Our room had two windows overlooking the back hill and side of the property. Even though not at the front it was still a nice view. We booked a double room but had a single bed tucked away in a corner of the room and a double bed. Our room was clean with good quality bedding and the bathroom smelt nice and clean. Plenty of tea coffee and milk plus bottled water available. Enjoyed breakfast in the morning at a table sat overlooking the beautiful valley. Plenty of choice of self service food. The views were just amazing. We also had pizza and tasty homemade chips in the evening and there was a nice atmosphere in the bar. Really enjoyed our stay.
Carolyn, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

We arrived at 2100 after an eight hour drive to find the room we had booked and paid for was already occupied. It was unclear whether this was the fault of an Expedia glitch (the proprietor assured us it was) or the staff at the venue having allocated the room to someone else because they assumed we were a no show (they had not realised we had already paid for the room), I cannot recommend this as a place to stay. We were exhausted.

Should have been better !!!!

The hotel ; situated in a rural setting, was superb. A bit out of the way but easy to locate. The staff were brilliant as was the manager initially!!! Breakfast on the first morning was very good all round. Breakfast on day two didn’t exist -no warning, no message and no staff whatsoever to liaise with !!! No refund and no sign of the manager !!! Informed by bar staff eventually that the chef had gone on holiday? Highly recommend the hotel in respect of the accommodation. There are very good reviews regarding the food from the local residents. Sorting the lack of communication between Manager and clients is a major to do ?????

10/10 Exceptional

I booked a reservation here so my wife and I could take advantage of the North York Moors and it is right in the middle of them. It is a peaceful, quiet, beautiful area with phenomenal views. You may want to rent a car to get there and to take advantage of the surrounding English Countryside of which this place is an excellent example. We got off track with our GPS which took us way out in the country, but it was dumb luck that we did because the scenery and views were outstanding and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. The Inn is 300 years old and is well maintained. The rooms are clean, the bed was good, and the view out of our room window was special. The pub is nice and well equipped. We ate dinner in the separate restaurant and had a wonderful conversation with a couple from England that lasted for well over an hour. The food was great and the service was excellent. Breakfasts are very good, too. We had lots of conversations with other travelers who gave us good recommendations for other places to visit as we continued our trip through England. Most of the bookings that we did were for three days, but I only penciled this one in for two days. That was a mistake. I wish we had had another day or two to spend on the moors. A trip on the North York Moors Railway and a visit to Pickering Castle are two recommendations. I highly recommend the White Horse Farm Inn to anyone traveling in the area.

Our wedding anniversary break.

Arrived Friday afternoon. Not what we were expecting. No heating on, just a small 2kw oil filled radiator which even on full couldn’t heat the whole room. Evening in the bar, only one ‘real ale’ available (3 advertised) and food wise no pies or fish, only scampi or burger. Breakfast at 9.30, no one on duty so self serve cold food that had been there since 8.00am and pretty gross. On our return that evening we found the room had not been serviced. Evening meal only scampi left so we went elsewhere. Sunday breakfast no better. As we went out at 11.00am hotel all locked up. Returned at lunchtime for the carvery but hotel all locked up, no staff anywhere. Very disappointed. Hotel stayed closed until Monday morning when bacon and sausage where inedible, hard, like they had been microwaved several times. A member of staff was in the bar so we could check out, we only saw 4 members of staff all stay. Very disappointed with the whole experience, we certainly could not recommend either the hotel which is very tired and needs a complete makeover or the food which was poor quality.

Mixed review

On the positives the front line staff are really friendly and helpful. The room i had was a decent size and really comfortable bed and initally looked nice. Breakfast was plentyful and un rushed. I knew it was a 2 star but most of reviews said excellent or good so i took that as nice. The rooms are well stocked with extras such as bottles of water , tea/coffee and decent biscuits and bathroom toiletries which to me were a higher standard than 2 stars. But thats were it ends. The Housekeeping lets it down there was dust on the unit that you could write your name in, on the sash windows in corners were dead spiders with cobwebs. I complained to manager he told me he would get it sorted the dust went but not the cobwebs and dead resident spider. In the book another recent guest made comments about the cleanliness. I came back after cleaning was done to find my door unlocked with my belongings still inside fortunately. The carpet had dirty marks on it, the windows, tile in bathroom floor, cushions picture was broken i had to use a towel to let air into room. The curtains were thin white cotton so i was woken by sunruse at 4.45 am as there was nothing to really stop sun shining in somuch for a good night sleep in the comfy bed. I came home exaugsted rather than rested. This definitely needs the Alex Polici touch. Will not return feel like i wasted a long weekend. Breakfast eggs cold and hard and luke warm

A lovely break in Rosedale, friendly and welcoming staff, good pub with a roaring fire, pleasant and comfortable room. Would be great to see a lighter option on the dinner menu, but that’s personal preference.

6/10 Good

Stayed here for business. A bit run down and could do with a refurbishment but I think it’s a pub that hikers and ramblers stay in due to its location. Smelt a bit musty, large portions of food but average at best basic pub food no healthy options. Room was basic, very tiny bathroom, dirty towel. Bed was comfortable but would I stay again for working away? Probably not.
