4/10 Fair

Breakfast was lovely staff when checking in wasn’t friendly also staff on the spa reception wasn’t welcoming
Michelle, 1-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Stayed to celebrate our wedding anniversary having been married in the hotel 8 years ago. Still a great place to visit, some areas are a little tired and would benefit from some TLC but on the whole we had a great 3 night stay. Bar service was great, comfortable setting. Fantastic grounds. Great pool and spa. Restaurant great food, a little pricey but can’t complain too much. Overall a very relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Great staff

Clean room. Wonderful staff. Great location. Hotel is a bit rundown overall. Good breakfast. Guyson reception were lovely. No ice in the bar was a bit of a letdown. And the broken gutter made a noise all night.

Great service BUT ..

We would have loved to say that the stay was absolutely perfect BUT sadly the room and food did let it down the service though was absolutely amazing we have to say that like that was A1 standard! But sadly the first night we went to the restaurant I spent £38 on a steak and the chips were undercooked and if I'm paying that much for one dish I would expect a lot higher standard a d the rooms cleanliness was not great

8/10 Very good

Bar prices And it seems to have lost its homely, friendly atmosphere
Alex, 3-night trip

8/10 Very good

Overall, a pleasant stay whilst in town on business. Pool and gym are very useful and adequate. Customer service is as expected. Wifi signal is poor and requires major revision, barely working at the best of times. Expect to hot spot from your phone, with your phone on the window cill if you need to work from your room. The bed is super comfy, great nights sleep! Bathroom is a tad battered and decor is dated however shower is brilliant and absolutely makes up for the cracked tiles. Ceilings in areas are peeling with plaster skim visible in various locations. Ceiling in pool requires attention with paint flaking from the metal roof framework and underside of roof. TVs have HDMI inputs for connectivity which is a major bonus if you have a console or firestick.

Callum at the desk was fantastic. Breakfast was very good. The road leading to the hotel was full of forest trees, too scary for me but idle for people that love to he around forest.

6/10 Good

We were there 20 years ago and the hotel was amazing food service really busy atmosphere was great, attention to detail brilliant, that was for our honeymoon , we went back 10 years later for our anniversary it was good and busy but not near as good as the first time, this time the staff were not well trained, the menu was limited, the first night we had to have our meal in the cocktail bar as 2 staff members were off, it was busy and frantic my prawn cocktail was very poor , the breakfasts were good and second night in dlnnlng room food was good but limited choice and no atmosphere, overall it is hard to believe how a hotel 20 years ago was so good and has gone down hill so badly we were planning going back for our 25th and maybe staying a week but that will not happen now and we will never visit any macdonald hotels again.
Anne, 2-night trip

8/10 Very good

nice building in lovely grounds . breakfast was expensive at £22.00 , it was nice but half that price would be the norm.

Good but could be much better

Decent hotel with charm. Spa was pleasant. Cleanliness needs improving throughout.
Paul, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Stayed 1 night with my 2 granddaughters Staff very friendly and helpful. Dinner and breakfast was lovely. The room was spotless. Only complaint was It was meant to be a family room for 3. I expected a Queen sized bad or a double with a sofabed, not a standard double bed. Should not have been advertised as a family room
