A wonderful relaxing and luxurious resort

We loved this resort. We upgraded to Rasa wing and enjoyed excellent additional services, such as afternoon tea and a cocktail hour. The resort is well maintained and the staff are friendly and helpful. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were very clean. They offer an array of dining options at the resort and the food was excellent. There is also a spa and other activities, such as a pitch and putt course. Additionally, the resort is within walking distance to an area where there are many restaurants and other tourist attractions all with local flavor. Downtown Georgetown is about a 30 minute drive away. (There is a lot of traffic on the island.) This resort is ideal for people who want to be away from the hustle and bustle of Georgetown. (Hotel offers a shuttle service to Georgetown). It’s definitely a place to relax and unwind.

This is a popular hotel. We had trouble checking in, and even though we were tired from our long trip, we had to wait quite a while to get to our room. The staff at the front desk were slow to respond, and it seemed like they were understaffed, probably because it's a large hotel. Also, because it's an old hotel, the facilities were noticeably worn out. The only good thing about it was the beautiful garden. The food was average. The beach was not very clear, and we hardly saw このホテルは大衆ホテルです。チェックインからトラブルが発生し、私達は長旅で疲れているのに部屋に入るのに大分待たされました。窓口スタッフのレスポンスが遅いのと、大きなホテルのためかスタッフ不足に感じました。また、古いホテルのため設備の老朽化が目立ちました。良かったところは、庭園が綺麗だったことです。食事は一般的なサービスでした。ビーチは透明度は全くなく、ビーチに入る人は、ほとんど見かけませんでした。

We stayed in Rasaya wing, as we always go for a suite. The room size, layout, the ambience everything was perfect. The access to the lounge was a bonus that we didn’t expect. The staff were fantastic. The only downside was the quality of the vegetarian options. What we ordered for in room dining was totally unpalatable even with hungry stomach. Looks like they have no idea about vegetarian cooking. I did speak to the Chef and the manager about this. Because we would like revisit this property for a longer duration.

Lovely hotel in great location The hotel is ready for a refresh of the decor and furnishings, looking a little bit tired and dated in places. Staff are welcoming and helpful. We ended up being here in August, hot and humid (not through choice, but necessity!) and a November to March break would be a better time to visit for the weather

We absolutely loved this hotel - the room was spacious and well kept and stocked. Shout out to our daily room attendant, Momin who was very pleasant and responsive/perceptive to our needs. Loved the pool and the garden and whole property including the spa where you get your services in your own mini villa - that’s luxury! The pool was also amazing with excellent service for food and drinks and towels. Every morning as soon as they saw us they would walk over with the towels and set up the loungers for us. When it got busy we noticed that the attendants would work hard to find loungers for everyone including bringing chairs over from another area to the pool area. Saved the best for last - the food is incredible - the selection especially of local foods/dishes and taste! Shout out to the dining room manager, Vijay who seemed to be there all the time and working hard to provide the best service to us guests. For us, this was a hotel that clearly goes above and beyond so kudos - keep it up, we will definitely be back and strongly recommend it to family and friends!

Been a repeat stayer at this hotel for many years. It has aged well considering the last renovation. Rasa wing high tea/canapé are always a charm. Monitor lizards swimming freely in the garden wing pool (that is the only pool permitted for kids) need to be urgently removed.

The grounds were well kept and staff was friendly. Rooms were nice and clean. Breakfast selection was really good. However, there was no equipment to warm up the croissants and muffins. What wasn't great was the delayed check-in at 3.50 pm. Another thing was they were confused as to whether we had booked for a night or two nights even after we showed them the confirmation from expedia.

I had a really pleasant stay with my family even though it was just for one night! The overall environment and rooms are very well maintained and clean. The hotel is very thoughtful and attentive to all the guests' needs. They even prepared beach slippers for guests who may not have brought theirs. They are situated in a forest area so there is a rich biodiversity which my family enjoyed exploring the place! What surprised me is the good variety and quality of food for the breakfast buffet and the cake specially prepared for one of the rooms I booked. Really thank you for the great hospitality from all the staff members. Will definitely patronize again when I'm back in Penang!

Resturant was exceptionally insulting.

40 years since we where married we booked what we thought was one of the best hotel in Asia Shangri-La Rasa Sayang, Penang to celebrate our special day. I was wearing a traditional Scottish kilt, the manager of the Resturant was exceptionally insulting. Telling me national dress is not welcome in his Resturant, he offered to call security and even the police, I said can I film him making the statement as its a huge insult ( I never filmed him ) As a you tuber with hundreds of thousands of followers I filmed just me I feal so Low thank you Shangri-La Rasa for destroying our 40 wedding anniversary, the director of FB was much nicer and gave us a table by the pool. I feel so depressed as a brand like Shangri-La you don't need a manager like you have in your Resturant, you have I insulted not just me but our nation 😥😥
