What a great staff, friendly and helpful. This is an amazing property though it needs some maintenance and some TLC. Great location in the old part of town and very close to Herculium. View of the Med on one side, view of Visuvius on the other.

The restaurant wasn't open for lunch when we arrived and we had to check if we could have dinner as they were hosting a conference. But the staff were all very helpful, lovely and friendly. The resident cat made us smile. We were pleased to have a room with terrace as there was no air conditioning and I think the fridge didn't work. But lovely building and would stay there again, a little oasis in a busy town x

This is a truly spectacular "palazzo", with somewhat sparse rooms that are large with very high ceilings. The entry is unimpressive (which may be a characteristic of a palazzo in Italy), but the large garden and grounds in the back are spectacular.

Lovely hotel, shabby chic! - in keeping with the area and price. Clean, comfortable beds, helpful staff. Pool was a godsend. Didn’t need to have towels changed every day though.

This old Palazzo and it's gorgeous garden and pool are an oasis in the summer heat. The place could benefit from some maintenance as small things were worn or needed attention in the bathroom, but on the whole for the price and access to the site at Herculaneum it would be hard to beat this lovely place. Perfectly located, staff were lovely, room was huge! We had a rear room overlooking the garden, just outside was a landing with comfortable lounges looking to the sea on one side and Vesuvius the other. The breakfast was OK. We didn't eat in house, but we did really enjoy our meal and local wine at a little restaurant just up the road opposite the entrance gates to Herculaneum for dinner. All in all a thumbs up from us.

The hotel was a lovely mixture of oldy worldy charm and shabby chique and art decor all rolled into one which is showing its age. In its heyday it was probably stunning but a lack of investment means it's slightly falling apart at the seams. Having said that we loved it's grandeur and charm and would stay there again. The breakfast were great as were the staff, even when our table collapsed one breakfast sending milk and cornflakes everywhere . With views over the Bay of Naples the grounds were a fascinating mixture of plants and features again fairly neglected. Pity the swimming pool was out of operation too. Fascinating place and ideal for exploring this part of Italy.

Our honeymoon

We came down and were greeted with "no show" as we had changed the date of arrival from 14 to 15 May. they had not arranged this. we were left sitting without any help and they just ignored us. no service. after a few hours, we got hold of Hotels.com, who sorted things out in the end. Very helpful, The room was OK, but the shower did not work well, and the last few days there was no hot water + it's probably the worst and most boring breakfast I've ever had in a hotel.

Likes are: lovely historic looking building a large area with high ceilings. lovely coffee at breakfast and a very nice and helpful waiter. Breakfast was perfectly fine. Dislikes: no toilet paper, the hotel forgot any housekeeping duties so room was not cleaned at all even after complaining! The fridge had half used drinking water in it and used wrappers around it. The safe did not work. The shower was outdated, old and malfunctioning. No advice or local information available. The evening restaurant menu was poor and therefore only one table occupied which led us to go elsewhere.

While our room was spacious, the hotel overall is a disappointment. Everything seems to be falling appart. The air conditioning in the room was not working so it was like an oven. We got portable air coolers sent which didn't do much to relieve the issue. The fridge in the room was not working. We were told a technician will be sent and this did not happen. Furniture in the room barely stands up (the Ottoman in our room had a broken leg). The overall site requires maintenance. The garden is a jungle, the walking area has not been cleared in ages and there is a build up of slippery moss/ slime grass. Breakfast is rubbish (more continental Vs hot breakfast). Restaurant is basic. However food was not bad.

Very friendly and helpfull. It was our first wedding anniversary ans aas given 210 which waslarge, comfortable with lovely decoration, fridge in room, also table and chairs. Gardens and hotel very pretty. Daily roomservice was impeccable. Aircon not great depite unit in room (it was a very large room). Glad it wasnt high season as it would have been too hot. Breakfast is continetal but extensive and varied, I enjoyed the cakes and pasties especially. Regularly topped up so fresh and warm. Some variation every day too so never bored with the food. Pool was peacefull, lovely, clean and water was warm with lifeguard and small cold drinks offering. Loungers very comfortable. Downside currently no bar or restaurant if you want evening drinks it food. However there are pizzas plus pleanty of local eateries and bars. Very close to ruins of Herculaneum and 15 mins walk to train station. Perfect for sxploring Pompei, Naples, Sorrento etc Admittedly a little tired in areas however you can see the effort is there to make your stay a comfortable and happy one. Its not 5 star but you get what you pay for and its better than most in this locality. Its certainly better than many of the reviews suggest. We had a wonderful stay and Would happily return. Thank you to all the Miglio Oro staff!!!

6/10 Good

This was a palace converted into a hotel so it is very old. The view of the sea from our room was great! However, the grounds were not kept up at all. (There is a huge garden in the rear of the hotel but nobody has done much to it to keep it beautiful. I mean, a leaf blower and a pair of hedge clippers would do it). The pool looked nice and clean and well kept though. Anyway, the wifi in our room and around the hotel was weak if it worked at all. There was no shower, just a tub with jets in it and a hand held shower attachment. The breakfast was 6/10. But the amenities around the hotel were sufficient and it wasn’t too far from Pompeii and this nice volcanic sand beach. It was when we walked to the train station to catch the train to Naples that we had to practically wade through garbage on some of the smaller backstreets. Such a shame that the locals don’t have pride enough in their city not to litter or to pick up trash if they see it. That’s not the hotels fault though and it seems to be like that everywhere in Italy. :(

Horrible, STAY AWAY!

This was nothing less then a horrendous and horrible experience, our room was ant infested, the AC made us all sick forcing us to rebook our flight and leave 3 days earlier. It was FULL of water and piles of dirt. Nasty stains all over the bed and headrest, not once did they change our bed linens or clean under the beds, disguisting hygiene and horrible cleaning. The laundry service is supposed to return your clothes the same night if dropping it off before 9 am according to what the paper says. We received it the evening after and was not even washed because they thought we were checking out 3 days later then we did. I have no idea what kind of laundry service makes sure your clothes are ready for check out, i thought it is clear enough that we use laundry service because we needed clean clothes for our kids during our stay otherwise i could have washed it myself when we got home. One out of three receptionists were very helpful and kind, the other two, very rude and not helpful at all. The only positive thing i have to say about this hotell is the kind restaurant workers, the pool guys and the guys that helped us with our bags the first day. Also there is an amazing restaurant called Pappamonte around the corner which had amazing food and super kind employees. Hotel is situated in what i assume is some ghetto area to Napoli and id never recommend anyone to go here ever. Napoli itself was very beautiful though. One of my worst trips and hotel stays ever in my life.

Plastik haveborde i restauranten.

10/10 Exceptional

The staff were very helpful, and willing to help, not just help because it is part of the job. From quick to translation to quick questions, they were there. Which was great because I can be a little nervous with language barriers. In hindsight, I do wonder if there was a bit of a leak in my restroom, but me not bringing that to the attention of staff is on me, not on staff being unapproachable (because they were not). The garden and park area around the hotel was what drew me to it. What I liked was that yes the property was unkept, but it was not so pristinely kept that I was scared of going off a path or fearful of touching anything. There may be a stray chair somewhere, or the remnants of a project unfinished, but that made me feel more comfortable about not needing to worry so much about what I did, unlike other places one could go. Across the street is the most reliable sandwich shop, run by the most wonderful woman and her daughter (?), the kind of place that you know will be quality food and you’ll feel good buying from them. There’s a few different café’s, each with their own environment to them (aesthetically and sociologically). There’s also Herculaneum literally 2 blocks away and the beach a 10-15 minute walk, if that. Great, quality spots around without it being super busy all the time. I think this hotel being in such a location is fantastic. Inspires some movement, but you also have what you need close by incase you want a day in with minimal walking.

Giv agt!

Etage, MED BAGAGEN!
