Our room had a beautiful view of the coastline. The staff is very helpful. Getting to the beach is a trek involving hundreds of steps but that’s no different than most hotels closer to the top of Positano.

We have stayed at Talamo twice and love the location and view, convenience to walking around Positano, and friendly and helpful staff. The rooms have a small deck where we were able to sip a Spritz and watch boats come and go in the bay. Some of the rooms are quite small--recommend upgrade to the larger room. Rates are competitive for Positano.

The hotel itself is cute and very clean and the breakfast offered was nice. The bed is probably the worst bed I have ever slept in. It was very hard and the springs were almost exposed. The shower was also not great….it would cycle through freezing cold, scalding hot and then a normal temperature. Each cycle about 5 seconds. The location was good with restaurants near by and easy access to the shops and restaurants down near the beach.

Our stay was good, but the staff were OCD crazy about everything. Every time we came out of our room, they were on us for one thing or another. When are you checking out? Make sure you close the door behind you! We felt like we were getting harassed and our parents were yelling at us every time we left to do something. It was weird. But the rooms were clean and it was a really beautiful view.

We did not have this view on our veranda, which is why booked the room. It's a half wall, rather than a railing. So unless you're standard at the wall, you don't get the view...especially eating breakfast. Very disappointed about that. Also, the photos make the room look larger than it is. It was clean & the staff was exceptionally helpful & gracious. The breakfast was plentiful & delicious. All in all, it was a good stay.

Good location but ordinary experience

The location was good but everything else was ordinary except the young guy at reception was the only one that was really helpful. Parking was a rip off … we weren’t notified that it was 60 euros per night, we thought it was for the whole time we were there. So parking cost us 300 euros for 5 nights. Older lady had major attitude. Very un-approachable. They charge 10 euros for beach towel hire per day which was a joke. You could have bought the same towel down the road for 12 euros. Overall, ordinary experience.

Learn to be hospitable to your guests

These guys wouldn’t know hospitality if it hit them in the face. Rude, condescending and made zero effort to be accommodating. Ive never tracked anywhere where staff couldn’t care less. I asked for an iron. They refused to provide but said they will be able to arrange an iron service next morning (must pay to get things ironed). Morning came around, they back tracked and said staff was busy and could not help. They would need until the next day to get it done. Also the one floating iron they had in the hotel (which could provide for a fee) was also untraceable. I have never experienced this level of lack of service. They literally act like they are doing you a favor by letting you stay there. Book your stay somewhere else.

DO NOT STAY HERE! This hotel should have one star. Our four nights at this hotel were the absolutely worst part of our vacation. Every day, I had to go to the reception desk to request shampoo. We had no bar soap or body wash after the first day. Bed linens threadbare and dirty. They changed the sheets one time. I had no toilet paper in the bathroom and had to use a towel to wipe during the night. The shower did not drain so you have to stand in dirty water. Someone from the hotel banged on our door at 8 am for no reason. We were still in bed and my husband had to yell go away. Don’t stay here. There are better hotels and I hope hotels.com ceases business with them.
