Just the most quaint and beautiful setting! Very well kept property and grounds. The pub dining area couldn't be more enjoyable. The staff was friendly and helpful and a young woman named Jess was particularly delightful and helpful. I would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet getaway. Just a short drive over to Grassington which is must!

6/10 Good

The bar/restaurant was lovely, although the seats were very uncomfortable we didn't stay for an extra drink. The room we stayed in was very dated and needed redecorating. There was signs of damp around the window, wallpaper coming off from the walls and was a little scruffy. The staff were exceptionally friendly and the food delicious.

Couple of days in Yorkshire

Nice hotel in the Yorkshire Dales. It was very busy but clearly well run. Room was comfortable and the food was very good. We had fresh plaice and it was perfectly cooked. Hearty English breakfast as well. Great place to stay in a nice location.

Great find I will come back

Lovely hotel and staff very friendly and accommodating. Shower was a little temperamental running hot and cold but a minor problem for us as overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Food was good and despite a wedding going on it was timely piping hot and service was excellent throughout our stay.

Booked this hotek on a whim as we needed a place to stay for a night near Skipton. Thought it was just going to be your average country pub but the hotel and location were absolutely wonderful. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was lovely (both evening meal and breakfast) and the room was clean, comfy and spacious. We had such a fantastic time that we have booked to come back again in a couple of weeks.

2/10 Poor

Unwelcoming and it just got worse

We were told tat the bar to enquire at reception if the room was ready early, when we did we were just met with come back at 3pm, no name take, no room mentioned, no car reg provided. Meanwhile my wife and daughter were busy being ignored at the bar trying to order coffee, which eventually came without any spoons. Not a great start and we immediately decided to have a late lunch at the Felll (excellent by the way). We returned after 3pm, told breakfast times but not location and proceeded to our room for the 1 night. I’ve posted 8 pics as that’s all I’m allowed to do but we have many more. I’ll try and cover all the issues, wall paper was hanging off in both bedrooms (pics), most if not all furniture was marked and dusty, the lounge lamp holder had dead flys in and flicked on / off so couldn’t use. The fridge had a broken shelf and was stocked with water with one bottle half empty. The new kitchen sponge with marks and hair on. The frying pan wasn’t fit for use. The cutter draws had bits it and we re washed everything before using. The main bed/settee was heavy marked all over and torn. The kitchen chairs were marked. There were random holes in both the upstairs and down stairs floors. The radiator in the main bedroom had seen better days and the chrome bathroom one had white paint on it. If it hadn’t been for one night we would have left, We are experienced travellers both in UK and abroad and all in all this was the worst place we or I have ever stayed in. Hotel made aware
Main bedroom, wallpaper and only bedside cabinet covered in dust
Lamp fitting with dead flys and flicker on off
Kitchen chair marked
Lounge Sofa / bed marked

Dalesway

We stayed overnight while walking the Dalesway, We had a dog with us and the dog and ourselves were well looked after (personal water bowl and bed provided, plus a sausage in the morning, the dog not us!) Our bed was extremely comfortable, food excellent, staff helpful, the only minor problem was that it was too hot, but better too hot than too cold.

Beautiful village and great location

Dinner was very good and the pub is lovely but our room was in need of updating and rather tired. Lights in the bathroom dim. Not a good room

Short break

Friendly staff, lovely food with good choice and nicely presented. great location. Room a bit tired but really comfy bed. Would have liked mini fridge instead of flask for milk. Would stay again but would request The ground floor as found stairs up to room a little steep/uneven for us but then it is 16th century so probably should have considered that before booking! Lovely views.
Janet, 2-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Beautiful location, clean and very comfortable, though rooms were a little sparsely furnished. (No table or shelf, so the kettle / tea / coffee were on the windowsill and the bathroom could have done with a towel rail) Uneven floors and stairs etc due to the age of the building but it all adds to the charm! Excellent service by friendly staff. The food was good but a little overpriced for what it was.
Jeff, 1-night trip

Stayed in a family room which was ideal for us. Clean, well-furnished and good range of tea and coffee. Would recommend.
Andrew, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Stayed in a cottage, very disappointed. In need of serious refurb, very tired. Lounge by bar had all ripped seats, like a dog has chewed it all. Breakfast is always great but evening meals are not great standard. On previous stays we have stayed in the room with bunkbeds, these are lovely and modern, this time we thought we'd go for more room in the cottage, but I'd much rather a more modern room.

N

Lovely pub and beer garden with lovely views. No fan in room made the night unbearable. Breakfast was nice although no one told us to help ourselves to the cold food in the other room. One bar staff bordered on being rude, no smile or eye contact made with customers. Fish pie was terrible, no sauce, microwaved and extremely salty, the food otherwise was acceptable but no one in our party rated it

Not Great

Treated poorly, wanted us to eat in the bar. Moved to the the restaurant under sufferance.

First time staying at this lovely 16th century hotel in beautiful Burnsall. Everything about my visit went well, my room was lovely, clean and comfortable. As a sole older woman traveller, some hotels are less accepting of the fact I'm by myself but the staff here were kind and friendly and it makes a huge difference. I will definitely go back.
