Perhaps one of the best decisions my wife and I made on our trip was staying at Palazzo Alexander. A family owned and operated hotel whose staff was friendly, accommodating, helpful, and kind. We wish we had booked a longer stay, and it is located in a very charming part of the old town of Lucca, very walkable to many restaurants, shopping, and attractions. Will for sure stay here again.

Beautiful hotel off the beaten track. The staff were wonderful, really friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. The rooms are absolutely fabulous - you feel like you are staying in an old Italian villa. Would absolutely stay again!

Perfection in Lucca

Upon arrival Gabriel paid complete attention to getting our car parked and helping putting our luggage in our room. His dad was equally friendly the next day, and Roberto was jovial and engaging as well as very helpful. Our room was large, clean and very comfortable. Recommendations for restaurants, bicycle rentals, and general sightseeing were spot on. A joy!

Great hotel and staff in a wonderful location!

Fantastic staff. Lovely breakfast available at good hours. The air-con unit in our room was quite loud but incredible! Great shower. Really comfortable bed and pillows. Located just inside the walls of Lucca, but away from the busy areas so really quiet. Short walk away is a drinking fountain where we topped up our water bottles each day. Worth noting that you can hear everything those in the rooms around (next to/above) are doing (showering, hairdryer, going to the toilet....) so if you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs! After we checked in during the early evening, we rested for a while before going out for dinner. When we returned the front door was locked and the lights at reception were off. A member of staff then came over and let us in. Turns out we were meant to leave our key at reception when going out but we had no idea! So they thought everyone was in bed as no missing keys... Never had to do this before (but then again can't remember the last time I had an actual room key and not card) and we weren't told when we checked in or when we went out (although the person on reception when we went out was busy so perhaps they would have mentioned it if they saw us leave). No curfew, they just lock the front door and turn off the lights if everyone is in bed but there is a night porter around if you need help/want to go out. So make sure you leave your key at reception!
