This is a great hotel in a good location. The staff where very helpful even though they were extremely busy with preparing for a wedding. The breafast was very good offering a full welsh breakfast.

Norton House Hotel mid week break

Check in was seemless and our bags were carried up to our room. We ate in each night, 3 times, several special offers, good range of dishes, expertly cooked and presented. Cooked breakfast was excellent with several options. Happy hour in the bar between 5 and 7pm, buy 1 get 1 free. Overall a great stay.

Lovely 1 night stay

Impromptu stay at the property, in a 2 bed apartment which was nicely kitted out and nice decor. Breakfast was very nice and not too heavy, had a choice of continental and cooked breakfast. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. There is a nice terrace area for drinks and lunch/dinner. Would recommend staying here.

We stayed in an apartment which was like student accommodation, bathroom ok, beds small and mould and filler everywhere .. lounge/kitchen was ok but rooms smelt damp which was terrible

Great value for money, location and a lovely stay

Overall very pleasant stay. A few niggly points, at check in (as I booked on the day) my name wasn’t on the list. I waited awhile for them to find and confirm the booking. The reception door were wide open as such reception was freezing so not ideal while you wait. Noisy radiator.

I stayed here about 10 years ago. I can see that some minor maintenance needs to be addressed, this particularly applies to the room. Window is very stiff with the handle being loose. A few tiles in the bathroom are cracked with missing grouting. The top shower head needs addressing as the spray shoots out in all directions. These are just minor points that doesn't affect one's stay, but I think they need to be highlighted.

We had mixed feelings about our stay here. It’s a great central location, clean and the staff are helpful . But for a no frills hotel it really needs to get the basics right to justify the price they charge. Our mattress was old and uncomfortable, the pillows were lumpy and there was no soundproofing between the rooms. We did not get a good nights sleep which is all we were looking for from this hotel. The breakfast was acceptable.. With better attention to the sleeping provision, this could be a good tourist hotel .

This was our second time of staying at this property. The previous time we were outside in the courtyard whereas this time we were in Room 1 within the hotel. We preferred being in the hotel. A slight smell of cooking invaded our room but was far more prominent in the corridor outside our bedroom door. This review and our impression of the room/hotel centres around a poor night's sleep due to the comfort of the bed. Obviously this is subjective but the bed creaked every time my wife moved, right hand side of the bed, the mattress did not seem to be a good quality with a memory foam topper. We experienced another poor mattress during our first stay. The breakfast was good and the staff were very attentive. The bathroom would benefit from a hook for clothes.

At check in, we were handed an envelope with information, no introduction from the man at reception as you would normally expect, information about breakfast/dinner times and locations. Not a friendly interaction or a good start. Low level of cleanliness throughout the building. Hair all over the bathroom floor. I cleaned it up and gathered almost a full handfull of someone elses hair from the floor and within the towels. At breakfast, the cutlery and bowls were dirty, the tea bags had been emptied into a bowl and looked stained like water had dripped on them some time ago. We visited the "bar", service was slow, there was no atmosphere in the the floor was dirty, there were dirty glasses left on the bar, one of our drinks came in a dirty glass. Poor attention to detail at breakfast e.g. not the correct number of cups, missing/dirty cutlery, additonal charge of £4 for some breakfast items which seemed unnecessary. The cooked breakfast was really small 1 egg, 1 sausage, 1 bacon, 1/2 a tomato, beans & mushrooms. The couple next to us were offered 2 eggs, we were not.

Great short break

Great stay in a lovely location. Room a little dated but was clean and well presented. Breakfast was included and was tasty. Able to leave the car in hotel car park the next day which avoided hefty parking fees.
