STAY AWAY!

This IS NOT a 3 star hotel. I’m sorry, but this should not be offered to paying customers. This is used for housing people off the streets and in know way should be charged at anything over £50 a night let alone the £130 for each room we paid. We checked out the minute we went to outlet room.

It is very basic but does what it says on the tin. The heating was on & there was plenty of hot water in the showers. There is a pool table in the hotel & a bar next door to the hotel. It is right in the centre of the city & only two minutes walk from the railway station. It ticks most boxes for me.

The room I stayed in was fine but there was a step down to the room…….I saw that this was marked on the room door after I had fallen…..on check out I said that this is something that maybe should be said when checking in

Avoid like the plague!

I reluctantly write this, as I'm not a fan of writing bad reviews, but I wouldn't want others having a similar experience. Other than location and the staff this hotel doesn't have much else going for it and I'd strongly advise to avoid like the plague. The stench of illicit substances greeted us as soon as we pulled up outside in the car, this continued through to the lobby, lift and room. The hotel seemed to be being used as some sort of meeting place for the local junkies and alcoholics with a steady stream of these "guests" moving through the hotel corridors, which made myself and my wife feel really unsafe! The bed had I actually slept on it wouldve been like sleeping on a park bench, although the upside of the park bench being safer. The final nail in the coffin was the room was riddled with damp. All in all I spent about an hour in this room, we checked out and booked another room in the Holiday Inn up the road. Best decision I made! In summary nice staff, good location (for Connexin) , terrible room and awful clients

I would not stay there again! Even if it was free! Road nosie & other people coming back at 2am. Room needs decorating, mattress was so uncomfortable & needs replacing. I informed the hotel reception.

Wish someone had told me it was a hotel where the local prostitutes go. People coming and going at all hours, the noise from the road and coldness and dampness of the room kept me awake all night. I was an alone and I felt unsafe so I popped a chair up against the door as the lock didn’t work properly. The staff were friendly and the sheets clean enough but it wasn’t enough to change my overall experience.

I was in Hull at Gilson hotel and the receptionist asked me my bank account card and he kept all dates because I paid my holiday in your website. It's a first time for me that find unusual procedure. BED BUGS DO NOT STAY

DO NOT STAY HERE !!! BED BUGS we arrived at the property at around half 6 on the 14/02 we checked in and went straight out for food and didn’t come back until 11pm ish. We had a shower got in bed and around 20 mins later I felt something crawl on me so my boyfriend checked and it was a bed bug in my hair!!! The man at the desk said there been other people also complaining about BED BUGS AND YET ITS STILL OPEN!!! It needs shutting down all our clothes and everything all have to be binned and burned. There was no availability in any hotel in hull and we had to travel back at 1am to leicester to home.

No hot water at any time. The pounding beat of the adjacent nightclub didn’t stop until 2am. The towel ring fell off the wall at first contact. The soap dispenser in the bath was empty and fell off the wall at first contact. The laminate flooring was the cheapest imaginable and moved/creaked with every footstep on it. The cabinet/desk appeared to have a drawer completely missing. No on-site parking. No breakfast. All in all it was the worst hotel I’ve stayed in since I was backpacking in third world countries.

Disappointed

We have stayed at the Gilson many times before and have always been happy with the service…….I paid for my stay online which I had done numerous times before but when I got to the hotel was told unless I had credit card details I could not stay at the hotel. It was pure luck that my partner had his credit card but it was in the car which he had to go and get which added another half an hour on our check in time. If this is procedure then this should be made clear in the welcome email that was sent. Was not happy with the service at all

Poor. Tried for the first time. Nerve again

Unpleasant and unagreeable staff poor customer service. Difficult not understanding. Showers takes 20 mins to warm up. Beds uncomfortable.

Ok Nothing special. Staff looked disinterested and not very knowledgeable on local area. Probably better places to stay locally and for less money. No life in the place wifh a bar that was closed.
