I wish I could give 100/10. The Burton Stone Inn has the kindest staff—George and Aaron were two standouts. They were helpful and welcoming. The location was prime as it was tucked into a quieter area but an easy scenic stroll to everything! The room was cute and everything we could need! I’ll be recommending this Inn to everyone—and will be sure to be back!

Very beautifully decorated room and very friendly host. Short walk to directly to the city centre and nice shops, cafes, etc. along the way. There is a bit of traffic and noise from the road, but I slept very well, and would ask for a room on the garden side if there's a need for more quiet. Would stay there again and recommend.

This place is amazing! The property is so beautifully managed and the hospitality is superb. We stayed here for two nights and felt like home - so welcome and important guests. A wonderful stay!

Fantastic location for walking into York. Our hosts were really helpful and friendly, they went above and beyond and we can't thank them enough. The full English breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. We stayed in a quadruple family room; it was very comfortable, the decor and furniture were lovely and the shower was great. We enjoyed the Yorkshire Tea and chocolates in the room too.

We had as wonderful stay as we did last year and in a better room. The service is great, Agnes is a very friendly and kindly hostess and very much looked after us and made us most welcome. Fab breakfasts! The best feature for us is the fantastic relaxing terrace area which we weren’t able to use as much as last year thanks to the awful rain. Highly recommend staying here and we will no doubt be back next year :)

Wonderful break at Burton Stone Inn

We had a wonderful stay at Burton Stone Inn. It is in a great location, just 15 mins walk from the station and 15 minutes walk to the shops and York Minster. Michal was a great host and nothing was too much trouble. Our room (7) was a great size, and extremely comfortable and very clean. Breakfast was superb with a great choice. We will definitely return. Thank you Michal and Agnes for a wonderful stay !

Whilst the hotel was perfectly placed, clean and welcoming, I had specifically booked the hotel as it had a bar and pool table. Having a teenager with us, it was hoped we could use this at night. To find that the hotel bar closed at 8pm and there was no pool table was disappointing, had this been known we would have booked elsewhere. The room was a great size, dry clean with tea and coffee facilities, small fridge and TV. Lots of storage space. Breakfast was made to order and was lovely. The owners were very friendly and helpful. It’s a good 10 min walk into the city centre.

Perfect base for a York adventure

If you are looking to explore York and need a base for a couple of nights then look no further than The Burton Stone Inn. A family business with wonderful hosts. Ample parking, clean and tidy room with decent shower. A very good hearty breakfast to prepare you for your 10 minute easy stroll into the city. We have two children 5 and 9 and they had no problem with the walk back having spent all day walking around the city including the city walls. Yes, the bar does close at 8, however there are so many fantastic pubs and restaurants in the cit, you are are spoilt for choice! If you really need that night cap before bed then call in to the Churchill Hotel (2mins walk from The Burton Stone) or there’s a choice of over 10 pubs or bars on your way home from Boothsms gate. We will definitely be returning. Thank you, see you soon.

This was the ideal room for a family city break. The staff were friendly and accommodating and helpful with restaurant recommendations. The hotel is a short walk from the city centre, so we didn’t need to use the car at all for the duration of our stay.

Michael and his wife were the perfect hosts providing a lovely accommodation. We stayed in room 11 which was beautifully decorated, spacious, clean and with all ammenities. The dining and bar areas were great and very clean. As room 11 in on the ground floor and street side you will get traffic noise throughout the night but otherwise very comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic, fresh and plenty of variety. Parking was convenient and location to the old town excellent. Also plenty of eating options nearby.
