Very comfortable accommodation and stay

A great place to stay. What they do they do well. Very comfortable. We stayed 3 nights. We cooked dinner each now night. Although there wasn’t anyone around we could call someone in charge if needed. Room was clean and tidy. Heater worked a treat and was on when we arrived at check in which is a nice welcoming touch as still cold outside.

Although there was misunderstanding, the issue was resolved smoothly. The staff were helpful and kind. I was happy to stay in this motel and would choose it again when visit Fox Glacier next time.

The two bedroom apartment was as depicted in the photos. It was reasonably basic and the walls were quite thin. The bathroom tap and fan noise could be heard everywhere in the apartment. Parking was directly out the front which was very good. Reception staff were lovely and the area is flat and walkable to various eating places. It’s close to the lovely lake Matheson walk, and a fantastic view of Fox Glacier from Peak view is a short drive down the road. Beds were okay but the pillows were very flat and not comfortable.

Lake Matheson a short drive away.

Beautiful little town but didn't 'have the best experience at this motel. It works and has what you need but I'd stay somewhere else next time. For my 30 day day trip to New Zealand this was the only hotel I wouldn't stay at again. Hotel is definitely not on the lake but a short 5-10 minute drive away and a short 5 minute walk to the main street on the highway. Neither of which are a big deal. Everything is close in Fox Glacier as it is a very small town.

not bad, not great, no service

loved the location & the layout of the room. However, it was self-serve check in with our key left taped to the door. I didn't mind that so much. Except that there was a sign that said to ring the bell if you had any questions, and here was a phone number to ring if you had any questions. No one answered when I rang the bell, no one answered or returned my phone call when I left a message. All I wanted was a towel, but couldn't get one for 2 nights. we left, and still never heard. The bed had an electric mattress heater on it under the sheets. we didn't need it, and it made sleeping uncomfortable as there were hard ridges & a hard box under the hip area. I'd have to take apart all the bedding to remove it, then I'd have nowhere to put it. I think it's a great asset in the winter months when it gets colder, but for the fact that IT DIDN'T WORK. The one on the left side wasn't plugged in, and in fact there was nowhere to plug it in. the one on the right side of the bed was plugged in, lit up when turned on, didn't heat after 1/2 hour, so we gave up. And to top it all off, the walls are seriously so thin you can hear everything on both sides of your room. not because they were so loud, they weren't, but because the walls were so thin.

Basic motel. A bit outdated and simple

The motel was a bit outdated. The room had minimal equipment. A simple bathroom. We stayed in many motels and hotels on our long trip to New Zealand and this was the least beautiful in my opinion. There was no one at the front desk and when I called, he could barely hear me and I could barely hear him. I liked the motel less.

Well positioned

The motel is conveniently situated and was well provided. The staff were quick to respond when we needed help getting the TV to work. The wet shower room was a bit damp, but otherwise our stay was comfortable. BetsyJane's restaurant and bar next door was excellent. Lake Mathedon is a short drive away and well wirth a visit.
