2/10 Poor

The first room that was assigned was a trip to hell, stinky old room. Clogged bathroom sink, broken tap. Were moved to a 'better' room the first night. There, when asked room service for warm water for an aching throat at 3.30am, we were taught how to use the kettle in the room which was dirty. The hand shower had kinks resulting into almost no water pressure. The thermostat needed Hotel engineering staff to be fixed. Water was leaking from under the toilet bowl. The hotel is grand but the management seems to have ignored it's upkeep and maintenance. Most importantly, the general service-oriented attitude in their staff was grossly missing. If I could have, I would have moved out of the hotel after the first night itself but advance payment for the entire stay was already made and I knew they won't refund a penny despite my immense dissatisfaction.

Hotel was magnificient, service was good. Rooms are old and need a lot of work. They were comfortable though. Hotel could use better towels.

Not even close to 5 stars. 3 stars at best. The pool doesn’t belong to the hotel, it’s leased, and there is a limit to how many people can access. You also cannot lounge by the pool lounge chairs without a “costume”!

I book two rooms and my mother was travelling with us And she is 90 years old. We received only one room. They said they are trying to get me second room. And inform me but I never received a call. I slept on smaller sofa all. We don’t eat even Breakfast and left. Who I can blame Expedia or Hotel management

2/10 Poor

Absolutely the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The staff are so rude and slow especially the front desk reception to check in it took over 40 minutes just to check in then they gave us a filthy dirty room that looked like it had never been cleaned. When we complained they reluctantly changed the room which wasn’t any better. This hotel is so old and neglected it looks like they do not complete any maintenance at all. The bathroom was dirty not enough towels were left and the sheets on the bed were dirty. Thankfully we only stayed one night. I will never ever stay at this hotel

Very unhappy and disappointed customer.

This Hotel is very badly managed. The rooms are below average. Not fit to be a 5 Star. The staff are not responsive at all. They take payment in full at check-in. I can understand why! Overall, I’m very disappointed with my stay at the Ashok. Hotels.com, I did made a complaint to you, but you failed to take any actions. Very disappointed with Hotels.com as well.

I am rating this property 5 stars for the following three reasons: 1. This hotel has really great staff. They are always willing to help you and go beyond boundaries to keep customers happy. 2. Delicious buffets breakfast they serve every morning. All tastes good, Especially the masala dosa prepared in live breakfast kitchen counter. 3. Great location. Its in the midst of all embassies But not everything here were great. Let me summarize negatives as next. This property is age old and the rooms really ask for upgrades. The appliances in a room are not really qualified for a 5 star hotel. Also, not sure why they still retain, rewash and reuse the years old bath towels. Its high time for a total upgrade for this hotel.

Terrible, loud, sleepless nights

We stayed for 5 nights at the ashok in room 423 the executive suite. It was a sleepless experience. The bedroom window did not close and was directly above the banquet hall and outdoor dancing. The lounge room balcony door did not close properly and was directly above a night club. For 5 nights we endured very loud indian music that did not stop until approx 2 am. On the fifth night I rang reception at 11.45pm to ask when it will stop. Was informed at 1.00am. Waited until 1.47am and rang again nothing changed despite promises. Went down to reception at 3.15am to complain. Music was turned down. I rang reception 5 times that night. They promised to stop the music but did not. This hotel is aware that all rooms above the banquet hall will endure noise all night from their functions and do nothing about it. It is not a hotel that ensures that guests who pay alot of money to stay, can rest and sleep, instead it puts ahead profits in its entertaining. Only after complaits to the manger were made that were we changed to the the "quiet" area. Management knows and does nothing. Horrible experience in a run down hotel. The bathroom had a window into the bedroom and the lights in the bathroom coud not be turned off except by the pulling out the key at the door. Definitely not 5* Worse still our inital complaints had not been escalated and the day shift staff apparently knew nothing.

The property advertises a pool. However you are not able to use it. I was told I can’t walk there unless I have a bathing suit on- this is per the spa- they said the pool belongs to the spa and not the hotel. When I asked the front desk I was told they are currently closed. But there was plenty of water in the pool - and per the spa people I was able to use it if I came down in a bathing suite. I don’t appreciate being told two completely different stories. The front desk did not have an answer on his own - he had to call the spa to find out. So who knows what the correct policy is. The rooms were dirty- do not expect that from a five star or even a two star hotel. The kitchen breakfast tables were dirty. I don’t think they ever clean between meals. The housekeeping and kitchen staff were extremely pleasant. I worked with the reservation desk, extremely rude and did not understand my booking needs and raised his voice was yelling and impatient. Very unprofessional. It’s inconvenient to check out with one sector of the front desk and check back in with another set of staff. Once the check out checked us back in. But other days they had us go back and forth. The rooms were nice with a great view.

The room was in questionable shape. Lights hanging off walls, plugs not in good condition. Worse problem, asked for handicapped bathroom, looked correct but tile floor was so slippery i had to go out and buy non-slip mats. Desk did not help and said they would.semd someone but never did. Very dangerous. Room not always cleaned. I did not ask for new sheets, but bed should have been made. Last day, no toilet paper replaced in room. Staff seemed to always be wanting tips

Askok needs reovation

The bathroom in my room was outdated and not very user friendly. The shower had little pressure and it was very difficult to adjust the water temperature. The breakfast service very poor. There was no easily accessible tea of coffee. The food layout was poorly conceived. The chef for the cooking station was often absent. Overall, the hotel is shabby and in need of renovation and renewal, in decor, facilities and service
