Great location and very nice room with balcony overlooking square. Very friendly and helpful staff on reception. Only downside was noise and vibration caused by underground metro trains late at night and early morning but overall a very pleasant stay.

Beautiful hotel. Modern, well appointed rooms. Double windows blocked street noise. AC was effective and quiet. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was great. Location was great for sight seeing, shopping and dining. Staff were warm, welcoming and helpful. We will return.

Great views and location

I loved my stay at this hotel. Location is amazing as there are so many attractions nearby. My room was spacious and clean - the ladies cleaned my room while I was having breakfast, so it was nice to find everything clean before heading out to explore the city.

I love this place

The Normandie hits all the right notes. It overlooks Bordeaux's streetcar hub and the Girond Estuary, is adjacent to the jardin public and the head of Rue Sainte Catherine, and is equidistant to the funky dining neighborhoods of The Chartrons and Saint-Pierre. The Bar a Vins, sponsored by the Bordeaux wind industry, is next door. Can't be beat.

Great place

The hotel is in such a great location, it is also very clean and comfortable. The staff is absolutely amazing, everyone was very friendly and helpful. I was so pleasantly surprised with how helpful they were, and will definitely stay at the same place when coming again to Bordeaux.
Aurica, 3-night trip

4/10 Fair

The staff are exceptionally friendly and welcoming, and the hotel is close to Ste-Catherine, Gambetta, Quinconces, and all the great features of central Bordeaux. The room was modern for the most part, especially the bathroom. With my VIP status, I got a free drink, which was a minor perk but nice nonetheless on a hot summer day (I also appreciated the air conditioning for the same reason!). Despite all the great things this hotel offers, I unfortunately can’t recommend it for two reasons: Firstly, there was a very mild dank, musty smell that caused me to have allergies (sniffling, sneezing, coughing), and it always went away shortly after I left my hotel room. I assume it was from the stone walls. Secondly, because the hotel was located right next to the tramway, I could feel and hear vibrations in my room every time the tram passed. I could’ve requested another room, but I was already on the fourth floor on the opposite side of the hotel, so any other room would probably have been worse. Such a shame, considering how delightful the staff were and how perfect the neighbourhood is!
Jonathon, 3-night trip

I was a solo female traveller and the hotel is really well-located. The staff speaks perfect English and was helpful enough. Also the room was clean and well-designed with a mini walk-in closet. I felt safe staying in this hotel

Positive Experience

Old-world charm with updated amenities. Very stylish and clean, with attentive staff. Very convenient location. Highly recommended.

The only issue is that the cleaning staff werent to noisy cleaning the other rooms 8-9am.
3-night trip

6/10 Good

The location and staff at the Normandie were excellent but I'm afraid I couldn't really say that my experience lived up to the four stars on the wall by the entrance. My room was not a four-star room. We all know that hotels only display the best aspects of the property, but on this occasion the difference between what was offered in the pictures when booking, to the reality, was rather misleading. It was cramped; the wardrobe was a kind of battleship grey, the door was a bluer shade of grey and the door to the bathroom (which itself was modern and stylish) was a sort of sickly cream that nevertheless went well with the tired wallpaper (the colour of which was a sort of off-nicotine). The floor sloped. I wouldn't put the breakfast as much more than adequate and I've certainly had better at lower-rated hotels. One of the reasons I chose this place was because of its high rating. I caught a glimpse of the room next door and it was indeed light, modern and airy as promised. So maybe I had bad luck. But the hotel didn't appear to be full so I'm disappointed they ended up giving me such a poor room. If I stayed again (and I wouldn't rule it out), I'd certainly enter into some kind of negotiation to make sure I wasn't allocated room 309 and wasn't going to end up feeling, frankly, a bit ripped off.
Michael, 3-night trip

6/10 Good
