The main highlight of the Gold Coast Railroad Museum is the train shed with 12 historic rail cars. Most of the cars are open to the public to go inside, peek at the interiors, and take photos. The crown train here is the custom-built Presidential Pullman Car “Ferdinand Magellan U.S. Car #1,“ used by Presidents Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, and Reagan.
Other notables at the museum include the 1920s Florida East Coast Railway Passenger Coach #136 and the U.S. Army Hospital Car #89436 from World War II. You’ll also see the Western Pacific “California Zephyr” and the red Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Caboose #0322 freight train.
Along with the historic rail cars at the Gold Coast Railroad Museum, railroad buffs will enjoy the fantastic model train room with memorabilia and an area with Thomas the Tank Engine table for kids to unwind.
The museum offers train rides on the weekends, and there’s an outdoor plaza with a sandbox and tables for guests to enjoy picnic lunches. The admission fee is discounted for children aged 3-12. Children under 3 and military are admitted free every day, while seniors are free on Wednesdays and Sundays.
