8/10 Very good

The property grounds are beautiful. The room was nice, had views of the garden. The breakfast was fantastic, everything you could possibly want. The hotel is older and showed its age and could use a bit more upkeep (i.e wallpaper that was starting to peel). The room was clean and bathroom was lovely.

Magnificent hotel-palace surrounded by lush gardens. It was a real treat to stay there. Impeccable helpful staff. We stayed in a simple double room with a garden view, but the hotel itself and the grounds were magical. Hope not the last time. Definitely will return
Beautiful landscape around the castle
“Water” hiking trail near the hotel

Only bad thing is that the internet doesn't work in the room, you have to sit in the library/ bar area. Otherwise fabulous!

The architecture is incredible - so beautiful and well kept, as are the surrounding gardens. The staff were all kind and helpful and friendly. The food was superb - and elegantly presented and served. The bathroom was functional and needs updating.

An amazing hotel. In a location inside a forest that you can walk through so many beautiful trails and water fountains. The opulence of the hotel in yh common areas is something to behold. Th gardens so well manicured. Never seen a hotel like this. Excellent breakfast and dinner .

You're in a palace. What more do you need? Though, the rooms are a little older and run down, you're in a palace! They were clean and comfortable enough. It's so beautiful just to sit inside or in the gardens. Walking around Bussaco forrest is one of the most incredible experiences of my life. This was my second visit and I will be returning.

Every one of the staff members were extremely professional, helpful, and friendly. The hotel is gorgeous and a very unique place to stay. The dining room is stunning, and the food was good. You can walk around beautiful gardens and trails, but there's about a 20-30 minute drive to get anywhere from the property.

Whilst beautifully imposing it interiors are dated

The rooms (on level 1 anyway) are extremely dated and would be closer to a 3 ⭐ anywhere else in the world. The bathroom amenities were disappointing and there is no iron & ironing board in the room. Overall the hotel is beautiful with some stunning features including a magnificent forest to explore. The staff were all friendly enough and we enjoyed a nice meal in the restaurant.

My room had a wonderful feel to it, somewhere between cozy and opulent. It was perfect for me. The duo at check-in were wonderfully helpful and appeared to enjoy working with people. The young man who showed us to our room was welcoming and even gave us a mini private tour with a lot of information about the history, tile murals, paintings and furniture in the palace. Would love to return and introduce to more friends and family.

It's wonderful property. Nothing better than sitting in the bar enjoying a glass of wine. Wifi is very spotty, so if you need to be connected, make sure you can connect on your own data plan.

Beautiful old palace steeped in olde world history. Not in it's full garden glory in winter but still stunning. Beautiful tiles, paintings, sumptuous lounges and dining area..needs some money to restore the exterior to its full glory ,but a quirky place to stay....so well looked after by the staff... Delicious breakfast and dinner. There is a history packed convent next door and many forest walks to enjoy.service was superb.

6/10 Good

It was ok The place snd the areas are unique, I would like to rate the hotel as 5 . The service at breakfast was disappointed , only 2 waiters, one cleaning the table the second busy to gust service. Ask fo omlet that not arrived, no refill of the ages and the orangjuice at the self service table , The hotel in general required aome refreshment. The rromes are dated , the lobby furniture are old I would return because of the area but don”t expect luxury as it should seen in first look
Zeev, 1-night trip

Bedroom was below par. No desk. No internet. No sitting chair. No temperature control. Bed was hard. Sheets were nice. Breakfast below par.
Rui, 1-night trip

Dining service is terrible AND WAY OVERPRICED. I would give it a 5star had i not eaten there or dealt with the bar manager. Very arrogant attitude.
KRISTINA, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Historical palace with minimal amenities. No wifi in the rooms, and even very limited in the lobby. Inconsistent cell service. Wonderful hikes all around the property. Needs capital investment.
