Worst stay ever

Worst stay ever - air con not working at 40 degrees ! The internet did not work the whole time we were there. Ate in the restaurant and one meal inedible and having a drink before dinner the chef had several shots !!! Reported to manager - end result full refund. Lift not working and the comp breakfast we were offered was withdrawn in the middle of the restaurant and we had to go to reception to sort out - Avoid avoid avoid is all I can say !!!

The building is excellent. The stay not great. I don't recommend an interior rooms as the temperature was out of our control(hot and stuffy). They kindly gave us a new room when asked. A 4 star rating is to high...ex. paper cups, no chairs on the terrace. Even with a language barrier, the staff could be more friendly.

Hidden Gem

Amazing property, fantastic service, brilliant room. We had a room with a terrace in the second floor which was magical. Views of the fort from the balcony. Bed was super comfortable. Breakfast was top notch (except for the coffee machine although they made up for it with coffees delivered to the table) Hotel had secure parking behind a barrier. Can’t go wrong with a stay here.

A cheap basic hotel in a good location.

The rooms were very basic not a bit like the one on the website. No bedside tables and nowhere to put things down as there was only one small table. There was only luke warm water to the sink and bath. When we arrived at reception we asked if the restaurant was open that evening and was told that it would be at 7.30pm. We arrived just after 8pm but there were no staff and we were told the bartender would be back in five minutes. 10 minutes later we found him but he said that there were no hot meals that evening and the restaurant was closed but he could make us a sandwich. Definitely Not 4 star.

Historic Hotel in Elvas

We were updated to a superior room with balcony - view of garden, country and town. Also received a voucher for a free drink. Elvas is a very historic town inside a fortress. The hotel is very nice and has a garden area with a swimming pool. As it was very hot it was a delight to use. Air conditioning,WiFi and bathroom with bath were all fine. A nice bar and courtyard area. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast outside in the courtyard. Altogether a pleasant stay.

For dinner I ordered soup and when it came the soup was cold. I had to ask them to heat up the soup, which also tells me the soup was not fresh. Then when the main course spaghetti arrived, it was cold too and that's when I decided that was enough so I spoke to the waiter and he said he wouldn't charge me for the spaghetti since I didn't eat it. This four star hotel is overrated because it should be a one star hotel. Second time of staying at the same hotel I now see the true colors of the staff. Every time I asked a question, the red hair receptionist (forget her name) was always playing /shuffling paperwork as if she was too busy to even print me a receipt upon check-out. Check first to see who the kitchen staff is before you order the food. If it's Ines (the short lady with long hair) do not order and go somewhere else. She's also not friendly and never smiles at us. There are two Ines' in dinning. We gave this hotel a good rating at first but after the second time of staying there, we chaned our minds especially after receiving the cold food. We were blown out of our minds that this could be happening at a four star hotel.
