This is the best in outback Queensland. Great food too. Don’t miss it

This historic hotel was a pleasure to stay in. The staff were friendly and efficient. There was so much to see within walking distance and the in house meals were delicious.

It was just a beautiful old heritage building
Barry, 2-night trip

8/10 Very good

We liked the art deco style of the hotel. Our room was clean but tired - curtains not fixed properly to the rail, bathroom floor worn. The beds were comfortable and the room was serviced daily. Food in the restaurant was excellent. Parking a bit difficult due to an Opal Festival closing the street. We were looking forward to the artesian spa but the heater was broken.

6/10 Good

Room is what you would expect for an old pub but plenty of space. Disappointed that there was no hot water or pressure in the shower - glad it wasn’t winter. Meals at the restaurant are quite reasonable.

Exactly what one would expect when booking at an old historic hotel in central Winton. The atmosphere is pleasant, rooms are pretty noisy but by 9 at night it hot quieter. Better than most outback motels.

8/10 Very good

They had live music on site. It's very central and quite comfortable. The beds were too hard for one of us but I didn't have a problem with it.
Philip, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

The property is old but ok. The room had twin beds which was ok and had a door out to a shared balcony. The 2nd bed wasn't placed so the person could watch tv, so DH turned the matress around. Unfortunately we were woken up at 6:20am with the fire alarm going off telling us to evacuate immediately. We quickly dressed and prepared to leave when a gal came to the door saying it was a false alarm. It's an old building, and sometimes someone having an early shower sets the alarm off. Really? Anyway i'd still recommend staying here. Oh forgot, they also have an elevator so you don't have to pull your luggage up all the steps to the first floor.
Francis, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

The room was not serviced daily. The shower curtain did not reach the floor so the water splashed out and made the floor slippery and unsafe. Very good meals and dining service, very good entertainment.
Wayne, 3-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Right in the middle of town. Park your car out the back. Friendly staff. Good food. Old but clean. History to see and read about at the hotel itself. Was great sitting in the big chairs outside the hotel watching the world go by. Nothing we didn't really like. The lift up to the accommodation looked a bit scary but worked well and then we used the stairs for the rest of our visit
Raymond, 1-night trip

Pauline, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

We spent 2 nights here to visit the Dinosaur museum. It's a bit dated, but it was very convenient for walking to Arno's Wall, and the Waltzing Matilda museum. The bed was comfortable and the shower was good. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The meals we had were good. Our room faced the road, directly above some outdoor seating, so it was a bit noisy on Saturday night with people talking and laughing. On Sunday, in the beer garden, there was a bush poet, Greg North, followed by Matt Scullion. Matt played several instruments and sang songs he had written himself. He was excellent. Listening to them was unexpected and very enjoyable.

10/10 Exceptional

Absolutely fist class experience! Made my day, made my week!! This is one of the grand old regional Australian pubs. Caters to the traveller exceedingly well. Treated to an excellent free show from Australian champion bush poet, Greg North. Last night was the history of Winton, Waltzing Matilda and Banjo Patterson’s part in all this. Greg made the News paper reports of the time come alive along with the various characters in the poems. Different shows on different nights. This was followed by an hour or more of soulful blues and to cap off, the State of Origin on the huge screen. All this took place in the spacious beer garden. Great meals, keen staff and that old world charm of days gone by. Picture the Annual Races and folk coming from far and wide, putting up at the pub and marvellous parties on the balcony verandas backing onto the rooms. Well done North Gregory Hotel ! In the 70’s and earlier, it was reputed to have the longest continuous bar in the world. Unfortunately, renovations have removed the old bar which these days would be unworkable from a time and motion perspective.
