Fantastic old building, beautifully refurbished. Well presented kitchen with cooking essentials. Bathroom is quite small and got quite damp during shower. Very comfortable beds.

Truely lovely clean and tidy cottages - felt like a real treat to be there and amongst the beautiful historic township of Burra. Had our 3 teenage boys with us - plenty of room for all of us and enough kitchen facilities to prepare our meals. There were also communal bbqs onsite. Only (very small) disappointment was free wifi is advertised but you do need a password from reception which wasn’t given at checking - so when we were ready to settle in with our hot chocolates after dinner and watch a movie we couldn’t access the wifi to do so

If you like heritage or history this sensitive restoration of 1800s miners cottages will appeal. Yes, it is rustic with original doors that do let in some droughts, and there are multiple steps and uneven floors (slate) but it has modern conveniences the original inhabitants would never have dreamed of. The bed was very comfortable but quilt and bed covers very heavy. As it was winter we had the a/c on all night.

2 nights in Burra to explore history

Charming miners cottages in the centre of Burra, within easy walking distance to eating & shops. Quiet, spacious, very comfy bed. Being winter the cottages do get cold but heat pump soon fixed that. When we arrived at the front of the cottages a notice on the gate said to check in around the corner at the office on site so we drove around only to find a board propped against a tree saying check in was now via the camp ground along the road. Another couple were in the same boat. When we arrived at the camp grounds there we no issues, the lady was very friendly, i informed her of the miscommunication info& was going to sort it out. We were told the cottages are council run. A message prior to check in to clarify this would be helpful. An otherwise great stay.
