The hotel was a lovely old house restored to a high standard. Our room was very clean, spacious and functional, with a modern bathroom. Breakfast was very good. We really enjoyed our stay and would happily come back here.

On arrival at hotel we were greeted with “name!” No hello , welcome. The man was not made for customer service. Told our room number but not how to get to it. Whole hotel smelled of dog. We have stayed in hotels before that are dog friendly but never had that overwhelming smell. Room was ok. Nothing soecial.

Comfy place to stay

We stay one night. The house is located in a quiet place just a short distance from down town. Bedroom and bath clean and comfortable. Breakfast okay. Good place to stay

Lovely Hotel and staff.

We stayed here the night before I had a race, the staff were so friendly and accommodating. We arrived later due to traffic and a road closure, so missed ordering food, however we were recommended some restaurants that were dog friendly and local takeaways that we order to the room. We had one of our dogs staying with us, we were advised there was a little paddock at the front of the gardens that's was secure for him to play in. My partner returned to the hotel after dropping me in the morning and had a lovely breakfast with our dog. The room was immaculate and smelled amazing, however they cleaned it was the best smelling room Ive staying in. As for the reviews saying "the place smelled of dog" absolutel nonsense. I've stayed in non pet friendly hotels which were no where near as lovely and fresh as this one. Only negative is I wished we'd stayed longer and will definitely be back.

As there was a wedding taking place we couldn’t have a bar meal. Not really an issue as we had a very nice Italian dinner at a restaurant on Hawick

Great welcome from lovely staff... beautiful building, only criticism was the bathroom. It was large and spotlessly clean but it had a handbasin the size of a pudding bowl? and the shower was rubbish. It was a challenge to use, and the pressure was extremely poor.

Thanks to Sure & Dave for being wonderful hosts. We enjoyed as a family and will definitely be coming back soon. We enjoyed the lovely walk, great hot breakfast (Thanks to the chef) with excellent coffee too. My boys loved their stay at Hawick :) Special mention about Hospitality staff named ‘Fern’ for her lovely service. Many thanks again. Keep up the good work team xx

Loved the setting and History of the Hotel. Breakfast was great.

8/10 Very good

Room excellent but room 2 saw next door and their bathroom was across the corridor entrance to our room so we could hear their door being opened during the night. Disturbing!
Andrew, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

Had a lovely big Lodge, but there wasn’t a mirror in the bedroom only a small handheld makeup mirror in bathroom and a mirror over the bathroom sink, no where to dry hair or straighten hair. Lodge was a great size but lacked finishing touches, a chair would have been nice to sit on and a dressing table. Long driveway was pitch black no lights at all to help you find your way to the hotel in the evenings we had to find our way by torch app on phone. Not safe. The young ladies waiting on in breakfast room were very pleasant and friendly.

8/10 Very good

A well-restored historical small hotel.. Rooms tastefully decorated, however there are a few small issues that could be improved to make a more comfortable stay to elevate the experience. Room needed better situated electrical sockets anywhere near mirror for hairdryer use. Bath towels were too small. Bedside lamp shades not attached to base and fell off. A rather luke-warm welcome on arrival was disappointing.

My partner and I loved our stay here. Everyone was friendly and generous, the room was lovely, the grounds were beautiful, and everything felt so Scottish.

Mini trip

Very clean and owners could not do enough to make the stay pleasant. The room needed more storage for clothes No drawers.

An evening in Hawick

When we arrived at the Hotel, the half dozen or so parking places were used, so we had to park around the back of the hotel. I went in to pay and l was met by a brisk "Can l help you?" The middle aged Gent dealt with my paperwork, whilst l went out to get my hand bag. I went back in to pay and asked if we could book dinner at the Restaurant, (which was mentioned in the Hotels.com blurb) which was replied to with a disappointing reply that we couldn't book dinner as it wasn't available and that we should head on into the town centre to find food. I was a bit annoyed at this, as we had paid the price for this Hotel, believing, that we should have been able to relax and have dinner at a Hotel of this calibre, especially when the Restaurant was listed in the Hotel's amenities. Our room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The en-suite bathroom was adequate, although l was unable to use the shower as it involved climbing into the bath first! The breakfast the following day, had several choices available with the usual jars of jam, honey, marmalade etc. and a selection of cooked items from a menu. Toast, tea/coffee were also served to the table.
